Duration: 5 Week Embroidery Course (1 x 2.5 hour session per week for 5 consecutive weeks)

Over this five-week course, you’ll be introduced to the fundamentals of goldwork embroidery, learning how to create padded surfaces and explore a range of traditional filling stitches. Each technique is carefully demonstrated and guided, giving you the opportunity to build confidence while learning how to work with goldwork materials in a contemporary way.

Working in a soft palette of greens, browns and pinks, you’ll create a detailed pear design using a combination of metal threads, padding and decorative stitches. Throughout the project, you’ll explore different ways of filling and embellishing the design, learning how changes in texture, stitch and material can create depth and contrast.

The course is designed as an accessible introduction to goldwork, covering key techniques while encouraging you to experiment with how traditional materials can be used in a more contemporary design. Whether you are completely new to goldwork or looking to develop your embroidery skills, this five-week class will give you a strong foundation in the techniques and materials used in goldwork embroidery.
