Bespoke Hand Guided Embroidery

Hand guided embroidery combines the efficiency of machines with the artistry of skilled embroiderers. Unlike digital machine embroidery, these machines require an operator to control the speed and direction of the stitching. At Hand & Lock, we use a variety of hand-guided machines, including the Irish, Cornely, and Trapunto, to create specialized techniques such as chain stitch, satin stitch, long and short stitches, cording, appliqué, and trapunto.

The Irish hand-guided machine is especially popular for its ability to blend colors and achieve lifelike shading. This technique is often used for projects that require bold designs or repeat patterns, including interior furnishings, bridal veils, flags, and ceremonial banners.
