External Course Testimonials
'The education team at H&L is incredible and delivers such beautiful and informative courses. You should be proud of yourselves, and all the hard work you've put in to create such wonderful courses that keep these skills alive! I'm so so excited to see which other places you collaborate with next. Very much looking forward to my next course at Kew Gardens! I have attended several H&L courses now, both at H&L and other venues. All the tutors have been brilliant and give excellent advice and tips for how to improve my work.'

'I had my first online class with hand & lock with Lucy Martin. It was the Lord of the Privy council goldwork class and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the class. Lucy was an excellent teacher and her knowledge and experience in someone so young is awe inspiring. The quality and the quantity of the materials was also excellent. The online classes make it easy for anyone to take a class in the comfort of their own home regardless of where you are in the world. I would definitely like to do another class.'
— Jane - Lord of the Privy Council
'Angels were delighted to collaborate with Hand & Lock in hosting a three day course based on one of our original period dresses.  The students that took part were a delight and were ably led by Lucy & Freya who managed the whole process without any fuss or disruption. I’m so glad that everyone enjoyed their time with us and we can’t wait to do it all again!'

Both Freya and Lucy were amazing tutors and were very informative and helpful. Overall such lovely people who created such a creative and calm environment. I was amazed with the tour of angels as well, Molly was a great tour guide and was an incredible experience. I also was really pleased with the materials provided and how many techniques that we were able to learn. She demonstrated a variety of embroidery techniques, working with the pupils to help them achieve a beautiful piece of work. Lucy's extensive knowledge and exceptional skill in her subject made the whole day an incredible and unforgettable experience for everyone who was there. Teaching at Kew Gardens

Inspired by the vibrant Caladium plant, our tutors created a bespoke embroidery workshop held in Kew’s stunning Nash Conservatory. Students stitched surrounded by tropical plants and learned traditional techniques in a one-of-a-kind setting.
