In the Victorian era, love was often viewed as a "folly" that made even the wisest of people act foolishly when head over heels. Many Valentine’s cards from this period also drew inspiration from Pierrot the "sad clown" who pined for love.
For these reasons, Cupid was often depicted as a clown during this time, clothed like a harlequin with frills, ruff and pointed hat.
Our Victorian Cupid patch is embroidered onto ivory felt with ivory, red, gold and silver threads.
Available with either iron on or stick on backing, our victorian cupid patch can be applied to your favourite shirt, jacket or a notebook or diary.
