One of Morris' most popular & intricate compositions, 'Acanthus' was worked on by May Morris and a team of others most likely between 1900-1910. The centre of the design features an interesting and unique motif of two leaves gently curving together to form an abstracted heart shape. This intricately embroidered brooch also draws on parallels to other natural forms like acorns and berries. Cutwork, essing, french knots and beads adorn this design.
