学生部門への応募資格は、登録時点でフルタイムまたはパートタイムの高等教育機関に在籍していることです。学生として登録すると、参加費の補助を受けることができ、コースの一環として制作した作品を提出できます。
オープンカテゴリー:
フルタイムまたはパートタイムの高等教育を受けていない場合は、オープンカテゴリーへの登録資格があります。オープンカテゴリーへの登録は年齢を問わずどなたでも可能です。熟練した実務家、熱心な愛好家、あるいは新卒者でも構いません。

ファッション部門の応募者は、賞のテーマからインスピレーションを得たファッションアイテムをデザインしてください。応募作品は、デザインスキルだけでなく、刺繍の技術もアピールするものでなければなりません。審査員は、コンセプト、制作過程、構成、刺繍技術、そして全体的なプレゼンテーションを審査します。
テキスタイルアート
応募者は、応募要項をよく読み、自身の刺繍技術を存分に発揮できる作品を制作してください。作品は、宝飾品、芸術的な彫刻、刺繍のタペストリー、インテリアデザイン作品など、多岐にわたります。審査員は、独創性、刺繍技術、完成度、構成、そして全体的なプレゼンテーションを審査します。
The Fashion Category
The Fashion category is open to anyone who has incorporated embroidery into a fashion garment. Finalists in this category are required to design a single fashion garment inspired by the Prize brief.
Your submission should consist of a complete outfit. While not every piece of the outfit needs to be embroidered, at least one standout piece should feature embroidery. Please ensure the entire look is cohesive and ready for display—for example, submitting only a top, jacket, trousers, or skirt as standalone pieces will not be eligible.
Only one complete outfit may be submitted; multiple outfits or collections will not be accepted. However, accessories that complement the outfit are permitted as part of the final submission.
What size should I make my garment?
UK Female clothing size 8: Due to the mannequins we use, please do not make your designs smaller than the following measurements:
Bust 81cm / 32″
Waist 66 cm /26″
Hips 86.5 cm / 34″
UK Male Clothing size Medium: Due to the mannequins we use, please do not make your designs smaller than the following measurement:
Chest 96 cm / 38″
Waist 88 cm /35″
The Textile Art Category
The Textile Art category allows finalists to enter any piece of embroidery that falls under the textile art remit. This includes, but is not limited to, jewellery, fashion accessories, interior design, artwork and sculpture. Textile Art finalists should design an art piece or object that takes inspiration from the Prize brief.
Textile Art pieces may be one piece or a small collection, provided it is supported by the design concept (for example, a triptych). Hand & Lock would prefer that the collection consists of 4 or fewer smaller pieces. All types of hand embroidery, hand-guided machine embroidery and digital embroidery will be accepted.
All prize pieces must be free standing or come with supports or wall hanging systems so they can be exhibited. Hand & Lock will be able to hang 2D pieces on the wall and display 3D items on a plinth or the floor, depending on their size.
Again please note, you will be required to enter one completed art work/object. (All types of hand embroidery, hand-guided machine embroidery and digital embroidery will be accepted).
What size should I make my piece?
3D textiles pieces must be no bigger than 1m x 1m.
2D framed pieces and wall hangings must be no bigger than 1.55m high x 2m wide.
Any items that require power must have their own battery pack.

第1次審査オンライン応募ガイドライン
第一ラウンドでは、応募者は画像のみを提出してください。画像は、全体的なビジョン、デザインの過程、調査内容、そして細部までを網羅的に表現したものでなければなりません。提出物が不完全な場合は、進行中の作業の画像と、全体的な計画のレンダリング画像を提出できます。
審査員はこれらの画像を用いて、あなたの刺繍のビジョンと、あなたが概要をどのように解釈したかを審査します。審査員は、あなたの独創的で独創的な解釈の証拠、そして技術力と全体的なデザインに注目します。
オンライン応募の場合、4枚の画像をアップロードしていただきます。これらの画像は、以下の条件を満たす必要があります。

画像にテキストを含めないでください
4 つの画像が表示されます。

画像4 – 完成作品／進行中の作品（例：ストーリーの結末）。まだ完成していない場合は、最終的なデザインがどのようなものになるかを明確に示してください。（複数の画像やテキストを提出しないでください）
- 各画像に必ずあなたの名前と、アップロードする画像セクションを記入してください。例：SamSmithImage2.jpg
–画像にテキストを入れないでください。補足テキストは、指定されたボックスに入力してください。ここでは、コンセプトと概要との関係、使用したテクニック／素材、そして最終的な作品について説明できます（画像1枚につき最大200語）。
審査員はこれらの画像を使用して次のラウンドに進むメンバーを決定しますので、あなたの全体的なビジョンを審査員が理解することが重要です。画像はピントが合っていて、明るすぎたり暗すぎたりしないこと、そして画像の説明、タイトル、名前などのテキストが含まれていないことをご確認ください。

提出画像の例
ファイナリスト応募ガイドライン
審査員によってファイナリストに選ばれた場合のみ、作品をHand & Lockにご送付ください。作品は撮影され、公開イベントで展示されます。そのため、作品は以下の基準を満たす必要があります。
– テキスタイルアート部門にご応募いただく場合、ファッションアイテムとみなされない刺繍作品であればご応募いただけます。ジュエリー、ファッションアクセサリー、インテリアデザイン、アート作品、彫刻など、あらゆる作品が対象となりますが、これらに限定されるものではありません。作品は吊るしたり展示したりできる状態にしてください。
– 破損しやすいものや特に壊れやすいものの場合は、適切な梱包と丈夫な容器をご用意ください。
– ファッション衣料を提出する場合は、必ず 1 着の衣装（モデル/マネキンが着用するようにデザインされたもの）を提出してください。
– ファッション衣服を提出する場合は、デザインと刺繍のスキルをアピールする提出物にしてください。
Photoshoot Requirements
Finalists may be permitted (subject to approval by the Prize Team) to bring additional props for the photoshoot. This may include items such as an extra hat or accessory to enhance the overall theme of your work. Any props must arrive at the studio at the same time as your final piece. If your piece comes with any extra props for the exhibition please coordinate with the Prize Team.
Finalist Announcements & Marketing Materials
As a finalist, you will be required to submit additional written content and media for use across Hand & Lock Prize marketing and social media channels.
There will be two rounds of official finalist announcements on social media. All submission deadlines will be clearly outlined in the finalist contract once announcements are made confirming those progressing to the final round.
Additional content required includes:
A professional portrait photo
(1080 × 1350 pixels, Instagram portrait format, 300 dpi)
A brief biography (maximum 50 words, written in the third person)
Title of the artwork/project
A short description of the inspiration behind the artwork
(2–3 sentences, written in the third person)
High-resolution images of the artwork, which may include:
mood boards, creative process imagery, work-in-progress shots, final artwork, and detail images
(1080 × 1350 pixels, Instagram portrait format, 300 dpi)
A short video (30–45 seconds maximum) showcasing the stitching journey, inspiration, materials, and techniques used in the creation of your Prize piece.
This video will be shared with the judges ahead of the final judging stage and may also be used on Hand & Lock social channels where appropriate.
