Duration: 6 Week Embroidery Course (1 x 2.5 hour session per week for 6 consecutive weeks)

Join us in creating this richly decorative design, inspired by the Gilded surfaces of Gustav Klimt and the Vienna Secession.

Over this six-week course, you’ll explore the combined disciplines of Tambour Embroidery and Traditional Goldwork, working on Silk Organza to build a piece full of dimension and ornament. You’ll learn the fundamental techniques of Goldwork to create raised, embellished shapes - carefully padded to form the distinctive mosaic surface. Once your Goldwork is complete, you’ll be introduced to tambour embroidery, using the hook to apply a variety of beaded techniques and surface patterns.

Rich in colour and expression, this piece celebrates the harmony between two exceptional embroidery techniques. Whether you are new to Tambour and Goldwork, or looking to expand your skills, this course offers a thorough and rewarding exploration of texture, embellishment and traditional technique.

Taught Techniques

- Tambour techniques including application of beads, chain stitch, flis stitch, vermicelli

- Intricate Goldwork techniques which include cutwork, plate, passing thread application and pearl purl application

- Contemporary Goldwork techniques like chipping and combining bullions and beading

- Padding techniques

What You’ll Need to Provide

- All materials will be sent to you - Course kit materials may vary slightly from those shown in sample imagery, however all alternatives are chosen to closely reflect the intended techniques and final results.

- Tools needed: 10 inch seat frame (or an equivalent embroidery or slate frame), embroidery scissors

How the Course Works

Technical Information

Our online courses are delivered via Zoom using a high-quality visualiser for close-up stitching. We record each session so you can catch up or revise later. You’ll also be added to a dedicated WhatsApp group, where students and tutors can connect, share photos, ask questions and cheer each other on.

All of the materials for your course will be shipped to you, unless otherwise stated in the product description.

UK Shipping - Parcels will be sent via Royal Mail Tracked 2 weeks to 3 days before the course start date.

International Shipping - Parcels are shipped via express courier 2 weeks before the course start date, at the latest. If you book in the 2 week window, we cannot guarantee on-time delivery.
