Designed for complete beginners and those looking to build their Goldwork skills, this relaxed and welcoming class offers the perfect introduction to metal thread embroidery. With guidance from our expert tutors, you'll learn how to combine these traditional techniques to create texture, dimension, and shine in your embroidery. To make your project yours, you are able to choose your own selection of fabric and bullion colours before you begin.

Techniques & Breakdown

This inspiring taster class offers the perfect introduction to the art of Goldwork embroidery, beginning with the fundamental techniques used in traditional metal thread work. Our expert tutors will guide you through essential skills, demonstrating how to apply pearl purl, create smooth satin stitch foundations, goldwork cutwork, and add beautiful texture and sparkle with chipping. Each technique will be demonstrated live by our experienced embroidery specialists, who will provide personalised guidance and support throughout the session. By the end of the class, you'll have gained confidence in these core Goldwork techniques while creating your own beautifully embroidered shell.

Bullions (colour of your choice)

Yellow Gutermann’s

Base fabric of your choice

Anchor thread or stranded cotton of your choice

Embroidery hoop

Beeswax block

Technical Information

Our online courses are delivered via Zoom using a high-quality visualiser for close-up stitching. We record each session so you can catch up or revise later. You’ll also be added to a dedicated WhatsApp group, where students and tutors can connect, share photos, ask questions and cheer each other on.

Shipping Information

All of the materials for your course will be shipped to you, unless otherwise stated in the product description.

UK Shipping - Parcels will be sent via Royal Mail Tracked 2 weeks to 3 days before the course start date.

International Shipping - Parcels are shipped via express courier 2 weeks before the course start date, at the latest. If you book in the 2 week window, we cannot guarantee on-time delivery.
