Paradise Garden

Mariia Khmelnytska aims to tell a story about Paradise - a place where only beautiful sounds can disturb the peace and harmony of a divine garden. The visual concept was inspired by the stained-glass windows and ornamental patterns of medieval cathedrals. This is a technically demanding work through which she wants to demonstrate her ability to combine garment construction and artistic embroidery into an object that can be described as fashion.

She began the project by developing the silhouette and creating the pattern. Since she planned to embroider the dress using the free-motion hand-guided embroidery technique, the pattern pieces needed to be extremely precise. Each section was embroidered separately and later assembled into a garment in which every element aligned perfectly. After preparing the pattern, she created a fabric prototype to ensure that the form matched her vision. Once she was satisfied with the shape, she began designing the embroidery artwork. Every image and ornamental motif was drawn by her own.
