Shifting Desert Dream: Leap or a Fall

Originally from the Oklahoma plains, Erica Kirsop now resides in the Arizona desert with her husband, son, and dogs. She discovered a passion for embroidery in 2023 while creating a large scale portrait of her son. With each new project, Erica aims to inspire both surprise and whimsy in her viewers.

Drawing inspiration from the impressive scale and bold colours of museum art and Native American tapestries she saw near her childhood home, Erica creates larger-than-life stories on canvas. Her piece captures a dreamscape where everything is in flux. As the audience moves through the room and views the work from different angles, they are invited to encounter three distinct endings to the woman’s story on display.
