‘Autumn Oakleaf’ is a goldwork taster designed to capture the beauty of the autumn season. In this three-hour session, you’ll create the elegant outline of an oakleaf using passing thread and threadwork, all stitched onto a warm, autumnal-coloured fabric. The design focuses on the intricate shaping of the leaf, using metallic threads to define its edges and create a sense of texture and depth. Delivered via Zoom with high-resolution cameras, this course offers a relaxed, hands-on experience where you’ll learn the basics of goldwork while enjoying the cosy, creative atmosphere of Hand & Lock. Perfect for embracing the colours of Autumn, this taster will leave you with a beautiful, handcrafted piece that celebrates the season’s rich tones.

Techniques & Breakdown

This exciting taster class offers a contemporary  intro into all things embroidery, starting from the very basics of the technique. Our expert tutors will guide you through fundamental skills, including threading a needle, couching Passing Thread, applying Pearl Purl and a range of threadwork stitches . (with tips and tricks from our tutors). Broaden your range of embroidery skills with this diverse course, allowing you to bring to life an exquisite design that showcases your new found skill.

Materials & Kits

Before every taster course, we ensure that all students are fully prepared by providing a detailed kit list well in advance. This list includes all the materials and tools you'll need to participate in the session, along with direct links to recommended suppliers, making it easy for you to source everything ahead of time. You will need: Gold Pearl Purl, Passing Thread, Orange Stranded Cotton, Base fabric of 40x40cm, Embroidery Needles size 12, 10 inch Hoop and Embroidery Scissors.

Technical Information

Our online courses are delivered via Zoom using a high-quality visualiser for close-up stitching. We record each session so you can catch up or revise later. You’ll also be added to a dedicated WhatsApp group, where students and tutors can connect, share photos, ask questions and cheer each other on.

Shipping Information

All of the materials for your course will be shipped to you, unless otherwise stated in the product description.

UK Shipping - Parcels will be sent via Royal Mail Tracked 3 days before the course start date, at the latest.

International Shipping - Parcels are shipped via express courier 2 weeks before the course start date, at the latest. If you book in the 2 week window, we cannot guarantee on-time delivery.

Additional Items in Your Order - If you place an order that includes both your course and other shop items, these will all be shipped together with your kit. If you would like non-course items sooner, please place a separate order.
