Introducing our Icons and Pioneers collection: a series of kits inspired by the lives of notable women throughout history.
Cleopatra VII was the last active ruler of ancient Egypt, celebrated for her intelligence, ambition and political skill. Unlike many of her predecessors, she spoke several languages and embraced Egyptian culture, connecting deeply with her people. Ruling during a time of crisis, she formed powerful alliances with Julius Caesar and later Mark Antony, using diplomacy and strategy to protect her kingdom. Though her life ended in tragedy, Cleopatra’s legacy lives on as a symbol of female leadership and resilience.
We have decided to focus in on a scarab beetle for her design, seen throughout ancient Egyptian art and jewellery, often used to symbolise rebirth and protection - fitting for a queen who left such a lasting mark on history. Through this kit you will learn the art of Goldwork including cutwork, chipping & pearl purl edging and padding.
The kit includes an amber chenille base fabric with printed scarab beetle design and the bullions, threads and gold metal beads needed to complete this artwork.
Kits do not include an embroidery hoop
Charity Donation £1 per sale will go directly to the Wonder Foundation - a women-led charity dedicated to transforming the lives of women, girls, and their communities through quality education. wonderfoundation.org.uk
