Introducing our Icons and Pioneers collection: a series of kits inspired by the lives of notable women throughout history.
Amelia Earhart was a trailblazing pilot who became the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean in 1932. Known for her fearless spirit and love of adventure, she helped open the skies to women at a time when few believed it possible. Amongst her great achievements as a pilot Earhart was an advocator of women's rights and was an instrumental part of the formation of the Ninety-Nines, an organisation that is still running today helping women get into aviation. In July of 1937 Amelia Earhart disappeared over the Pacific Ocean whilst attempting to become the first female pilot to fly around the world.
Our embroidery kit is inspired by her iconic plane, a red Lockheed Vega, a lasting symbol of her daring achievements and the mystery that still surrounds her final flight. Through this kit you will learn the art of Goldwork including cutwork, chipping & pearl purl edging.
The kit includes a printed Sky chenille base fabric with printed plane and all the bullions and threads you will need to complete this design.
Kits do not include an embroidery hoop
Charity Donation £1 per sale will go directly to the Wonder Foundation - a women-led charity dedicated to transforming the lives of women, girls, and their communities through quality education. wonderfoundation.org.uk
