Join us for our two-day Tambour Beading embroidery course to learn the exquisite French Haute Couture technique also known as Lunéville or crochet de Lunéville. In this immersive experience, you'll discover the art of attaching beads and sequins to fabric using a specialised hook, skillfully manipulating the threads on fabric which is stretched taut like a drum. Delve into the intricacies of this craft as our expert tutors guide you through the delicate process of embellishing the underside of the fabric with sequins, seed beads and bugle beads. This technique, integral to the world of Haute Couture embroidery, is hugely enjoyable and also provides remarkable speed in your beading endeavours once you've grasped its finesse. Unearth the secrets of high-fashion embroidery and unlock your creative potential in just two days.

Techniques & Breakdown

You will learn how to use a Tambour Hook, Beauvais Stitch, Attaching Seed Beads, Attaching Sequins, Attaching Bugle Beads. You will take a beautiful beaded sampler with our Hand & Lock swirling design.

Hand & Lock School - In Person Tambour Embroidery Course

How the Course Works

All in person courses are delivered in our embroidery school, located at Hand & Lock, 86 Margaret Street, Fitzrovia, London, W1W 8TE. The school is situated upstairs from our studio and is easily accessible by public transport.

Please arrive at least 5 minutes early to the class - if you are earlier there are lots of great coffee shops nearby. If you are running late please let us know as soon as possible.

Lunch is not included and the school room will be locked for a one-hour break, with the timing set by the tutor. We also have a list of local places to grab lunch, and there are lots of lovely venues nearby.

Accessibility

Our school is located upstairs in our studio. Unfortunately the building does not have lift access, so use of the stairs would be necessary.

Materials

All of the materials you need for this class will be provided for you as part of your course experience, but you are more than welcome to bring your own equipment if you would rather use your own tools.
