The Royal Welch Fusiliers (Ffiwsilwyr Brenhinol Cymreig) was a regiment of the British Army, formed in 1689. It was one of the oldest regiments, hence the archaic spelling of 'Welch' instead of 'Welsh'. In 2006, the regiment merged with the Royal Regiment of Wales to form The Royal Welsh.
