The Shadow that Stayed

Crow Chen threads meaning from the mundane. Based in New York and Shanghai, she is a textile artist exploring the intersection of touch and sight through mixed media. Attuned to the unnoticed, she reflects on the hidden weight of everyday moments, weaving reverence and quiet ritual into every fibre.

Rooted in Crow Chen’s personal memories of 2000s China, this project recreates a quiet domestic landscape using textiles as a medium for emotional recall. Through embroidery, each piece becomes a tactile fragment of memory. Translucent panels catch and cast light, evoking filtered sunlight through stairwell windows and inviting a slowed-down world.
