Yanis Miltgen

Anthropomorphic Plague

Country:
Yanis Miltgen is a 24-year-old Luxembourgish art embroiderer and textile artist who combines tradition and modernity in his creations. After exploring both fashion and fine art, he now creates poetic works inspired by nature, architecture, time and literature. His goal is to evoke emotion through innovative and imaginative pieces.
In this work, Yanis reflects on an engraving by Paul Fürst, using a crow-themed fashion silhouette to explore anthropomorphism and provoke questions about identity and the human condition. By presenting the crow — long seen as a symbol of ill omen — in human form, he creates a dialogue between historical narratives and contemporary perceptions of beauty. The corset motif further challenges gender norms and social constraints, illustrating how clothing influences our understanding of identity and the world.
