Location: 86 Margaret Street, London W1W 8TE

Duration: 5 Consecutive Days

Would you like to learn the art and craft of Passementerie? One of the rarest and most special of all textile arts, Passementerie is the art of creating decorative embellishments such as braids, trimmings, tassels, fringes and rosettes for applications such as interior design, bespoke clothes making, millinery, jewellery and more. Join acclaimed passementerie artist and expert Elizabeth Ashdown for an immersive 5-day Passementerie Masterclass. During this unique and immersive Masterclass you will explore the wonderful world of contemporary, hand made passementerie. Passementerie is an 'endangered' craft in the UK and so this is a very special opportunity to learn how to create your own hand made passementerie from one of the last remaining passementerie makers. During these classes, you will learn the traditional making techniques and skills required in order to create your own passementerie with confidence including items such as hand woven designs, tassels, rosettes, covered drops and cord spinning.

Techniques & Breakdown

During the 5 days of tuition, Elizabeth will lead a series of hands-on workshops covering a range of diverse and exciting hand passementerie skills and techniques including; weaving passementerie using a frame loom, cord spinning, tassel making, rosette making and covered drop making. You will be working with a range of specialist passementerie materials and equipment.
