Connie Mabbott
Machine Embroidery Tutor

Machine Embroidery Tutor
Connie comes from Snowdonia in North Wales and moved to the Midlands to study Textile Design at Birmingham City University, specialising in embroidery. Since then, Connie has worked as a hand guided embroidery artist for a bridal company, been a self employed designer maker of unique digitally embroidered fashion and a guest lecturer back at BCU before moving to London to continue her digital embroidery path.
Joining Hand & Lock in 2024, Connie wanted the opportunity to become more experimental with digital embroidery and it has certainly not disappointed! Whilst creating new bespoke machine projects she is always working with challenging briefs and tricky materials and threads, allowing her to be constantly expanding her knowledge of the subject.
Translating art into stitch is definitely one of her favourite parts of the job as it allows her to be more expressive and use her knowledge of materiality and embroidery to make conscious decisions about the best techniques and threads to use. Connie has joined our Machine Tutor team teaching our Digital Masterclass. She is really enjoying teaching students about using Wilcom and digital embroidery, and has found teaching has also widened her own knowledge.
