My Pieces

Soojung has long aspired to create works that embody a sense of calm and the refined sophistication of traditional Korean craftsmanship. She draws inspiration from Jogakbo, the Korean patchwork, where each rectangular piece represents a moment in her life. Her favourite quote from her readings is embroidered in both Korean and English, with a unique interplay of overlapping compositions.

Using a distinctive technique called ‘Both Sides Alike,’ which she learned at the Royal School of Needlework, alongside the traditional Korean patchwork method, Samsol, she creates a harmonious blend of English and Korean influences that reflect her identity. The beauty of calm, sophisticated simplicity is captured through her minimalist approach, delicate embroidery and an all-white composition.
