Inheritance in Bloom

Kai was captivated by an embroidered Dents glove discovered during archival research. Its intricate motifs roses, acanthus and orb transcended utility to embody British regalia and identity. This glove became a catalyst for new expressions connecting tradition and the contemporary. Translating it into fashion, he studied its structure and stitching, transforming them into a jacket where the sleeve itself evokes the form of a glove. Through exaggerated silhouettes and embroidery, he explored the transformation of history and self.

Appliqué and sequins merged authority with delicacy, while genuine leather sleeves preserved the glove’s authentic texture. To counterbalance the toughness of leather, he created hand dyed, three dimensional fabric flowers each petal cut, shaped and sewn by hand blurring boundaries between embroidery and sculpture. Glass and beads added radiance, balancing fragility and strength.

Trained under a Japanese art flower master and educated at fashion schools in both Japan and the UK, he merges Western regalia, Japanese aesthetics and contemporary trends. On the back, a five petaled flower serves as a unifying emblem, transforming historical reference into a living, sculptural narrative.
