As a semi-bespoke course, our digital masterclass is suitable for beginners, intermediate or advanced digital embroiderers alike. You'll have the opportunity to discuss with your tutor beforehand, to tailor the session to your requirements.
The session will primarily cover the art of embroidery 'digitising', using our specialist digital embroidery software 'Wilcom'. Digitising is the process of designing an artwork in digital stitch format. This includes translating existing artworks or photographs into digital embroidery form, or designing something from scratch directly into the software. Our software allows us to design a 'stitch file' by selecting different techniques, stitch densities, spacings, and angles, among numerous other functions, which renders the artwork into a creative digital embroidery design.
This class will allow you to master the basics of Wilcom, as well as some specialist insider tips from the H&L digital embroidery team! Depending on your prior experience and learning level, we’ll move on to cover some of the more complex digitising functions that Wilcom has to offer.
Finally, you will have the opportunity to see your design transform from a digital, on screen render, to a physical and tactile embroidery design during the sampling portion of the class. Using our state of the art digital embroidery machines, you will leave the class with a physical sampler to take home.
Students will also leave the session with an understanding of the practical applications of digital embroidery and how to apply what they have learned to their own practice.
