Festive Candy Canes is a Christmas-inspired taster that combines the elegance of goldwork with the charm of seasonal design. In this three-hour course, you'll stitch two candy canes outlined in silver pearl purl, using red and white beads to create the iconic striped pattern. The canes are beautifully tied together with a green threadwork bow, adding a rich, textured element to the design. Throughout the session, you'll learn key techniques in goldwork and beading, mastering the art of working with metallic threads and creating fine details. This festive project is perfect for those looking to add a touch of handmade elegance to their decorations or to simply enjoy the creativity of the season.

This exciting taster class offers a contemporary  intro into all things embroidery, starting from the very basics of the technique. Our expert tutors will guide you through fundamental skills, including threading a needle, creating Satin stitch with cotton, applying Pearl Purl and embroidering patterns with beads. (with tips and tricks from our tutors). Broaden your range of embroidery skills with this diverse course, allowing you to bring to life an exquisite design that showcases your new found skill.

All of the materials for this taster course will be provided. Please feel free to bring your own embroidery tools and equipment if it would make you feel more comfortable.

Accessibility

Our in person classes are taught in our school which is located upstairs in our studio. Unfortunately the building does not have lift access, so use of the stairs would be necessary.

Tutor Profiles

Our bespoke classes are taught be expert hand embroiderers who have worked in the couture industry for brands such as Alexander McQueen, Chanel, Dior, Valentino, Hermès, Louis Vuitton, YSL, Givenchy, Dolce & Gabbana, Schiaparelli, Lanvin and Burberry to name a few. The classes will cover the basics, insider tips and practical application making sure students are fully equipped to go on and apply what they have learned to their own garments and develop their own unique styles. Our tutors are work embroiderers first and tutors second which means they are able to give you a unique insight into the magical world of couture hand embroidery.
