Hand & Lock's Sparkling Snowflakes course offers a perfect introduction to these techniques, guiding participants through the creation of three stunning snowflake designs that shimmer and sparkle with metallic threads and beads. In this three-hour session, you’ll explore a variety of goldwork and beading techniques, including how to handle metallic threads, layer textures, and apply beads for added dimension and brilliance. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to expand your embroidery repertoire, this course provides hands-on experience and expert guidance, allowing you to create intricate designs that capture the enchantment of winter and the timeless beauty of hand embroidery.


This exciting taster class offers a new and contemporary outlook into Goldwork and Beading Techniques. Our expert tutors will guide you through fundamental skills, including threading a needle, applying Pearl Purl and how to attach Plate in a fun and inventive way. As well as learning how to combine these techniques with beads(with tips and tricks from our tutors). Delve into the diverse characteristics of these once traditional techniques followed by immersive instruction on their use, allowing you to bring to life an exquisite design that showcases your new found skill.

All of the materials for this taster course will be provided. Please feel free to bring your own embroidery tools and equipment if it would make you feel more comfortable.

Accessibility

Our in person classes are taught in our school which is located upstairs in our studio. Unfortunately the building does not have lift access, so use of the stairs would be necessary.

Tutor Profiles

Our bespoke classes are taught by expert hand embroiderers who have worked in the couture industry for brands such as Alexander McQueen, Chanel, Dior, Valentino, Hermès, Louis Vuitton, YSL, Givenchy, Dolce & Gabbana, Schiaparelli, Lanvin and Burberry to name a few. The classes will cover the basics, insider tips and practical application making sure students are fully equipped to go on and apply what they have learned to their own garments and develop their own unique styles. Our tutors are work embroiderers first and tutors second which means they are able to give you a unique insight into the magical world of couture hand embroidery.
