Lucy grew up in the Peak District, where her passion for stitching began as a child, helping her mum make wedding dresses at the age of three. A classically trained embroiderer with a first-class honours degree, Lucy has worked with renowned brands like Alexander McQueen, Burberry, and Catherine Walker. In 2022, she joined Hand & Lock as Head of Education, transforming the school into a globally recognized hub for contemporary embroidery.
Lucy creates educational programmes for students of all levels, curates classes with international guest tutors, and collaborates with venues like the National Portrait Gallery and Kew Gardens. She also leads embroidery retreats worldwide and teaches the prestigious Hand & Lock Diploma in Contemporary Embroidery, helping students master technical skills and develop their artistic voices while preserving the craft for future generations.
