"This design depicts my personal vision of my story: half Italian, born in Argentina, now living in the UK"

From the serenity and simplicity of my childhood town, Chajarí in Argentina, to the cultural crash that I experienced when I moved to the cosmopolitan City of Buenos Aires…and from there to Italy, where I was recognised as an Italian citizen… until I settled in England two years ago.
This design depicts my personal vision of my story: half Italian, born in Argentina, now living in the UK and it’s formed by two pieces: one of them is a “second skin” full-length gown in close contact with the body. This dress depicts my origins in the North East of Argentina, with its forest and natural beauty, away from the speed of big cities.

The base is a soft pink beaded net that I embellished with beading and silk shading using pastel colours to represent my childhood, the innocence, the fragility… the beginning of my dreams. The second piece: a “third skin” garment that communicates more about my recent story is a recycled denim jacket, embroidered using different techniques: satin stitch, silk shading, hand beading, 3D flowers, zig-zag machine embroidery. I believe in contributing to a fashion industry with less waste, therefore I chose to give this jacket a second life.

I also incorporated an experimental embroidery, using pieces of beer cans. The embroidery design depicts motifs, colours and my personal feelings associated to the three countries where I lived (England, Italy, Argentina) under a rain of metallic pieces (a sense of rupture and chaos).
