Haute Couture embroidery

The finest fashion embroidery by the embellishment specialists

French for ‘high fashion’, Haute Couture refers to the creation of exclusive custom-fitted clothing. Fashion that is constructed by hand from start to finish, made from high quality, expensive, often unusual fabrics, finished with extreme attention to detail.

Attention to detail is the mark of truly great couture and no one understands this better than the embroidery experts at Hand & Lock.

Since the 1950s. European fashion houses first called upon the services of S. Lock & Co, and later H&L to embellish their showstopping pieces. High profile commissions come from Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Ralph Lauren, Pringle of Scotland, Mary Katrantzou and Tom Ford.

H&L specialise in a host of embroidery techniques including tambour beading, goldwork and silk shading. These techniques can be used in conjunction with one another to produce truly dynamic and contemporary designs.

The process starts with a visit to meet your designer at our central London studio. They will listen to your ideas and present relevant designs and samples. The H&L team can work from a fully annotated design or collaborate closely with you from a brief, an idea or theme. Your dedicated H&L designer will then create an embroidery draft for your approval, making changes and alterations where required. When you are satisfied your embroidery will be produced here in the UK by our team of highly skilled and experienced embroiderers. With heritage, experience and an unparalleled understanding of the possibilities of couture embellishment, H&L are on hand to help you realise your greatest design ambitions.

Prices are subject to design and production times.
