"I wanted to recreate a soft texture in a fashion way and started looking into a textile artist and designers who used soft fluffy materials"

My theme was soft Disney toys as they are personal to me, I did some drawings and paintings based on my toys and then edited them on photoshop to create different patterns as a guide for my sample making. I wanted to recreate a soft texture in a fashion way and started looking into a textile artist and designers who used soft fluffy materials. Then I got the idea of using different yarns to get a soft touch, got the idea

of using canvas work to create different patterns and used latch hook and turkey rug to get a fringing look. I wanted to combine a different embroidery technique and looked into to the artist, Tracy A Franklin who specialises in Goldwork and looked at her book, ‘New Ideas in Goldwork’, where there was an example of Japanese passing threads looped into metal gauze, which gave me the idea of using this as another way of fringing.

The samples I made I edit them on photoshop into fashion garments illustrations. The main techniques I used was turkey rug for the collars and cuffs, the front and the back are different to each other as I didn’t want them to match.
