Every September the Hand & Lock Prize for Embroidery begins its 14 month cycle concluding the following year in November.
The process starts with entrants registering though the H&L website and concludes with an exciting live judging in London.
If you are entering the 2019 Prize this page will remind you where we sit in the schedule and what deadlines or key dates are looming.
Detailed below are the all important deadlines for registering, uploading images of you work in progress and for submitting final physical pieces.

You must register by this date before submitting work to the 2021 Prize for Embroidery. Entries without registration will not be considered.
A dedicated online upload portal will open from 1st April - 5th July* on the Prize homepage for you to submit six images
*Six images must comprise of three research images (concept, mood boards, embroidery samples, etc.) and three images that show your final design or, if not yet completed, what your final design will look like. Please note that judges will use these images to determine who goes through to the next round and it is vital they understand your overall vision.
The portal will close at Midnight on July 5th 2019. Any entries received after this time will not be eligible for the competition
All entrants notified if they are through to the next round. You will be contacted by 2nd August and, if successful, allocated a mentor.
Final pieces must be received at the Hand & Lock studio in London by 17:00 on Friday 20th September 2019.
A pop up two day exhibition at the Great Hall, Bishopsgate Institute. Tickets are £6.50.
