Goldwork Embroidery

The ancient embroidery technique that uses metalic threads to add lustre and luxury

Goldwork is the ancient art of embroidery using metal bullions. Particularly prized for the way light plays and reflects on it.

Hand & Lock are the pre-eminent specialists in the rich art of Goldwork. Using the fine bullion wires to bring life to emblems, logos, cyphers and more. Their expertise has been called upon by the British Royal Family, the British military and the likes of Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior.

An expert H&L designer can interpret your deign as embroidery and include an array of Goldwork techniques on their own or mixed with other techniques. The process starts with a visit to meet your designer at our central London studio. They will listen to your concept and present suitable designs and samples. Your designer can interpret your existing design or produce one especially based on your needs.

Your dedicated H&L designer will then create hand drawn drafts for your approval, making changes and alterations where required. When you are satisfied with the design, your embroidery will be produced at our London atelier by our team of highly skilled and experienced embroiderers. With heritage, experience and an unparalleled understanding of the possibilities of couture embellishment, H&L are on hand to help you realise your greatest design ambitions.
